Letter 'L'

Today the letter 'L' was perfect to learn about. L is for LOVE. We are so excited about Valentine's Day tomorrow and Emma is finally old enough to understand why we have it and she was able to make valentines for her friends and family.
Today we wanted to tie in the Valentine theme with our lesson. First Emma colored the letter 'L' in her alphabet book. She then learned what sound 'l' makes and traced uppercase and lower case 'l'. She learned that Ladybugs started with this letter. We made a ladybug out of hearts, adding the 6 legs and antennas to it's cute heart face.
I read her a poem about a ladybug:

"Ladybug, ladybug
Fly away home,
Your house is on fire
and your
children are all gone;
All except one
and that's little Ann
And she has crept under
the warming pan."

We then went over the past letters she has learned so she won't forget them.

Emma and Ellie made the cutest valentines for the grandparents. We got a stick of gum and with twizzlers pull and peels we curled them at the top of the gum and made antennas. We then got two hearts together with heart stickers on the middle of the gum to make the wings. After adding more stickers and eyes, it was a Valentine Butterfly. The girls had a lot of fun making them...and eating most of them that they "messed up" on. lol.

You should make a book of the letters and what you do with them. I am sure that people would buy it.
